The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for heatwave in several parts of the nation including Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi. The weather office mentioned in its bulletin that the heatwave-like conditions will continue to trouble citizens for the next couple of days. Yellow alert for these regionsIMD has issued a yellow alert for regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Balistan, Muzzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and East Uttar Pradesh. Boiling mercurySeveral states of the country have recorded high temperatures surpassing the 45 degrees celsius mark. According to IMD, the highest temperature was recorded at 49.8 degrees Celsius in Phalodi, Rajasthan, and 48.3 degrees Celsius in Mungeshpur, Delhi. Heavy rainfall is predicted for Kerala and Mahe on 29th and 30th May. In North East India, it is expected to rain lightly to moderately in most locations and heavily to extremely heavily in a few isolated areas on May 26 over Mizoram, Tripura, and South Manipur, then on May 27 and 28 over Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, and Tripura.
