New Delhi: In a startling turn of events in Delhi, police arrested a 20-year-old man from Ludhiana for allegedly stealing cash and electronic items worth ₹6 lakh from his workplace. The accused, identified as Hasan Khan, resorted to theft after his employer refused to increase his salary.
Khan, a technical expert employed at a motorcycle showroom in Naraina for over a year, reportedly became disgruntled when his request for a pay hike was declined. According to police, on December 31, Khan executed his plan by cutting off the showroom's lights to disable surveillance cameras. To avoid identification, he wore a helmet during the heist. He managed to escape with ₹6 lakh in cash and expensive electronic equipment, including two high-end cameras.
Following the incident, investigators reviewed footage from over 100 CCTV cameras and questioned multiple employees before zeroing in on Khan. Upon his arrest, police recovered ₹5 lakh in cash and the stolen cameras. Khan confessed to the crime during interrogation.
In another incident on January 5, masked robbers attempted to loot a jewelry showroom in Mangolpuri, Outer North Delhi. Brandishing knives, they stole gold ornaments worth approximately ₹12 lakh. However, their plan to rob nearby shops was thwarted by shopkeepers, who threw chili powder into their eyes, forcing the robbers to flee.
Police have collected CCTV footage from the area to identify the culprits and registered a case against the unknown assailants. Investigations are ongoing.
