The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha after spending the night in Tihar jail has moved an application in the Rouse Avenue court for direction to the Tihar Jail Administrator to allow her to have home-cooked food and other required necessary things, asking to comply with the order dated March 26.

The plea highlights that it is important for the health of the applicant that she be allowed home-cooked food and provided with a mattress in the jail. She has also requested the jail superintendent, to allow her to carry her spectacles and japa mala to the jail.

In the plea, the petitioner also requests that the Tihar authorities issue instructions to provide slippers, bed linens, books, blankets, pens, paper, jewelry, medication, and other necessities for judicial detention.

But none of the things the court ordered were given to the petitioner or permitted to be transported by them, in flagrant violation of the judgment dated March 26. According to the plea, the applicant has not even been permitted to bring eyeglasses and japa mala to the jail. She also shared the cell with two inmates after she was sent in judicial custody till April 9, in connection with the Delhi Excise policy case.

After taking note of the complaint, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja on Thursday requested the Tihar Jail administration's response and scheduled a hearing for March 30, 2024.

Attorney Nitesh Rana represented K Kavitha in the case, in addition to Mohit Rao and Deepak Nagar.
