In a shocking case of fraud, Aarushi Nishank, daughter of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, has been duped of ₹4 crore under the pretense of securing a role in a Bollywood film. According to the police, the scam was orchestrated by the director of Mumbai Mini Films Private Limited. Following her complaint, a case has been registered at Dehradun’s City Kotwali police station.
The police have booked Mumbai-based film producers Mansi Varun Bagla and Varun Pramod Kumar Bagla for their alleged involvement in the scam. In her complaint, Aarushi stated that the duo promised her a lead role in their upcoming Hindi film and assured her a significant share of the film’s revenue. They further lured her into investing ₹5 crore in the movie’s production, leading her to part with ₹4 crore.
Aarushi Nishank, who is actively involved in film production and acting through her company ‘Himshree Films,’ revealed that the accused approached her with an offer for a pivotal role in their movie Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan. They claimed that actors Shaina Kapoor and Vikrant Massey were already cast in lead roles. Under the pretense of securing her a major part, the fraudsters convinced her to invest in the film and took ₹4 crore from her.
Believing their claims, Aarushi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mini Films Private Limited on October 9, 2024. Subsequently, she transferred the funds in multiple installments:
₹2 crore on October 10
₹75 lakh on October 30
₹1 crore on November 19
₹25 lakh on November 27
Following her complaint, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter. According to sources, Dehradun police are likely to summon the accused from Mumbai for interrogation soon. Authorities are now examining financial records and gathering evidence to take further action against the suspects.
