One more murder case has shaken the nation on Valentine’s Day, when it was revealed that a man murdered his live-in partner and stored her body in a refrigerator, and then married another girl on the same day. The deceased was identified as Nikki Yadav, while the accused was identified as Sahil Gehlot, 24.

According to the Crime Branch Unit, a Delhi court on Wednesday sent the accused to five days police custody in connection with the murder of Nikki Yadav. Both of them have been in a relationship for a few years. Police said that Sahil Gehlot killed Nikki Yadav and married another girl on the intervening night of 9-10 February.

Police confirmed that the woman’s body was recovered from the refrigerator at an eatery run by the accused in south-west Delhi. Police said he killed her using the cable of his mobile phone in his car.

According to the police, the accused had hidden the knowledge that his marriage was set with another woman from his girlfriend Nikki Yadav. She got into a furious disagreement after she learned about his wedding with other women, which resulted in her death.

It is been reported that she was threatening to implicate the man in case he marries another woman, police added.

On February 10, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) said that a secret input was received that a person named Sahil Gehlot had killed his girlfriend and married another girl on the day of murder. When they found out about the case they began investigating it, but they did not find any complaint regarding any missing woman.

A police team reached Mitraon village, after the mobile phone of the accused was found to be switched off. However, he was not present in his house after which an intensive search was made in the village and nearby area. He added that the accused was later arrested from Kair village in Delhi.

Officer revealed that during interrogation, the accused initially tried to mislead police. However, later he disclosed that he had killed his girlfriend on the intervening night of February 9 and 10 and kept her body in a refrigerator at his eatery.

Revealing about his association with Nikki, the officer disclosed that the accused Sahil was preparing for SSC exams at a coaching centre in Uttam Nagar in January, 2018. At that time, Nikki resident of Jhajjar in Haryana, was also preparing for a medical entrance examination at an Uttam Nagar institute. There, they met for the first time and later fell in love.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Archana Beniwal granted the Crime Branch his custody to interrogate him for five days and ascertain the exact scene of the murder and route he took after committing this crime.

Nikki Yadav’s father wants the accused to be hanged

Sunil Yadav, father of deceased Nikki Yadav, has said that the accused should be hanged. He also mentioned that his daughter last visited her home in Jhajjar, Haryana, one and a half month ago. The news of her death reached him on Tuesday.

He said, the police have taken her body to Deen Dayal Hospital for the post-mortem. The post-mortem will take time. They didn’t tell us anything, just showed us her body to confirm that this is her.

A case under IPC 302 and 201 has been registered at Baba Haridas Nagar Police Station.
