On April 20, a terrorist strike in the Jammu & Kashmir district of Poonch killed at least five Indian soldiers and injured several others. The incident occurred while the army truck was on its way from Bhimber Gali to Sangiot in the district.

General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Army Staff, and other Indian Army forces paid tribute to the five men who sacrificed life for the nation. In a tweet, the ADG PI Indian Army said, “General Manoj Pande #COAS and All Ranks of #IndianArmy bow to the supreme sacrifice of 05 #IndianArmy Bravehearts, Hav Mandeep Singh, L/Nk Debashish Baswal, L/Nk Kulwant Singh, Sep Harkrishan Singh & Sep Sewak Singh who sacrificed their lives in the call of service at #Poonch Sector.”

In a tweet, the White Knight Corps extended its condolences to the families of those killed troops and praised their bravery. “Today, Hav Mandeep Singh, L/Nk Debashish Baswal, L/Nk Kulwant Singh, Sep Harkrishan Singh, and Sep Sewak Singh were killed in the Poonch Sector in the line of action.” “The White Knight Corps honours their selfless service and expresses condolences to the bereaved families,” the message said.

According to an Indian Army statement, an Army vehicle was targeted by unidentified terrorists while travelling between Bhimber Gali and Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri sector. Five Rashtriya Rifles Unit troops deployed in the area for counter-terrorism operations were killed in the event. One other soldier was seriously injured and was swiftly removed and transported to the Army Hospital in Rajouri for medical care.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police Bomb Disposal Squad and Special Operations Group (SOG) rushed to the scene of the terrorist attack at Bhimber Gali, Poonch, where five soldiers were killed. A huge hunt operation was launched on Friday morning in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bata-Doriya jungles to find the terrorists.
