New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a reward of 20 lakh rupees on Wednesday for Canadian-based terrorist Goldy Brar and his accomplice. Brar and another gangster are wanted in a case involving extortion and shooting at a businessman's house in Chandigarh. The NIA has declared this reward under the same case. According to information, Goldy Brar and his accomplice are accused in case RC-03/2024/NIA/DLI. This case relates to a shooting incident at a businessman's house on March 8, 2024, involving extortion. The case has been filed under various sections of the IPC and the UA (P) Act. A reward of 10 lakh rupees each is offered for any information leading to the arrest of either of the accused. The NIA has guaranteed that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.

Who is Goldy Brar?

Brar is part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, known for serious crimes in Punjab, like killing police officers. His involvement grew after his cousin died in 2020.
In May 2022, a Faridkot court issued a warrant for Brar's arrest for allegedly killing Gurlal Singh Pehalwan, a local political leader. Later that month, Brar claimed on Facebook that he shot singer-politician Sidhu Moose Wala.
The Indian government issued a Red Notice in June 2022, allowing Brar's arrest and extradition from any Interpol member country. He's accused of planning to get and sell illegal guns and using them to kill and attempt to kill others.
