The National Investigation Agency (NIA) busted fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) rackets which were being carried out in various parts of the country on Saturday. The NIA seized fake notes, currency printing paper, printers, and digital gadgets in four states. NIA Raids Multiple Locations to Bust Fake Currency Rackets, Seizes FICN & Printing Gadgets etc. pic.twitter.com/Rbv6OmyJUT— NIA India (@NIA_India) December 2, 2023NIA conducts searches in 4 statesThese searches were conducted by the anti-terror agency in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Bihar as part of its investigation as a complaint was filed on November 24 of this year under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) provisions.The NIA said, The case relates to a larger conspiracy hatched by suspected individuals for the trafficking of FICN across borders and for promoting its circulation across various states of India.Based on reliable information, the NIA teams raided the homes of suspects Shiva Patil alias Bhimrav in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra, Shashi Bhushan in Rohtas district of Bihar, and accused Rahul Tanaji Patil alias Javed in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, Vivek Thakur alias Aditya Singh in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, and Mahendra in Ballari district of Karnataka.NIA recovers currency printing papersThe NIA said searches led to the seizure of FICN of a face value of Rs 6,600 (in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200, and Rs 100), along with currency printing papers.According to the NIA, additional investigations showed that Rahul Tanaji Patil was accepting payments using SIM cards obtained unlawfully, with the agency stating that the search at Mahenders house led to the seizure of a printer meant to be used for FICN.
