A twist in an age-old case is unique but nothing is impossible. The prosecution has informed a Central Bureau of Investigation judge overseeing the case that the bones and other reportedly Sheena Bora remains that were found by the police in Raigad, Maharashtra, have vanished. The authorities claim that Sheena Bora, 24, was murdered in April 2012 and that her murder was discovered in 2015. Sheena Bora's mother, Indrani Mukerjea, is the main suspect in the murder investigation and is presently free on bond.

The prosecution disclosed information regarding Sheena Bora's "remains" on Thursday during the deposition of a forensic expert physician from the state-run JJ hospital in Mumbai's Byculla neighborhood. The forensics expert who first examined the bones the police had found in 2012 at the location where Sheena Bora's burned body was buried is now testifying in court.

The victim's plight

The articles (bones and remains of the victim's body), which were referred to and examined by the witness (a forensics expert), cannot be found despite intensive search efforts, according to special public prosecutor CJ Nandode, who also stated that the prosecution wants to question the witness without displaying the untraceable items. The case has been postponed to June 27 by the CBI court. The prosecution claims that on April 24, 2012, in Bandra, Indrani and her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna abducted Sheena Bora, Indrani's daughter from a previous relationship, and strangled her in a car driven by Shyamwar Rai, another accused who later became an approver.

The body was then purportedly disposed of the next day in a forest close to Gagode hamlet on Pen-Khopoli road in the nearby Raigad district. The plan to kill Bora was only uncovered on August 21, 2015, when Rai was detained by the Khar police for a different offense, despite the fact that her remains were found by local police within days of her death. Rai provided information about Bora's death during his interrogation, and as a result, the police registered a murder case and also arrested Khanna and Indrani.
