New Delhi: In a massive drug bust, Delhi Police seized over 560 kg of cocaine, with an estimated value of ₹2,000 crore, in one of the capitals largest operations to date. The drugs were discovered in South Delhi, and four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, authorities confirmed.International drug syndicate unveiledInitial investigations point to the involvement of an international drug syndicate operated by Afghan nationals. This bust follows the arrest of two Afghan nationals, Hashimi Mohammad Waris and Abdul Nayib, just days earlier in a raid at Tilak Nagar. He entered the business after a friend contacted him, offering him $100 for each delivery, a police official revealed. Waris allegedly received consignments from various people across Delhi and NCR and handed them to the receivers. Nayib, also a registered Afghan refugee, moved to India in January 2020 with his father. He reportedly met Waris at the same chemists shop, where Waris convinced him to join the drug business, promising a luxurious lifestyle, according to police sources.Links to Manipur drug smuggling ringEarlier this year, Delhi Police arrested four men transporting drugs from violence-affected areas in Manipur and other states. The accused used high-end vehicles to smuggle opium and heroin, later selling them to clubs in South Delhi.
