New born baby burnt to death in Meerut's hospital; Video surfaces

Taking cognizance of the news circulated on social media, a magistrate inquiry has been ordered into the matter. District Magistrate Meerut has nominated ACM-2 (Civil line) as a member of the investigation committee along with the medical team and has instructed a complete investigation within seven days.

A sensitive matter involving a newborn baby has surfaced in which the newborn was burnt to death in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of a private nursing home located on Garh Road, Meerut. She was admitted here for better treatment. In a viral video, the family members alleged that the doctor was responsible for the negligence due to which the newborn lost her life while being kept in the incubator. They questioned Dr Vinod Ahuja for the cause of the newborn's death.

Police action initiated 

Taking cognizance of the news circulated on social media, a magistrate inquiry has been ordered into the matter. District Magistrate Meerut has nominated ACM-2 (Civil line) as a member of the investigation committee along with the medical team and has instructed a complete investigation within seven days. 

At the same time, Chief Medical Officer Dr Akhilesh Mohan said that they got to know about the newborn baby's death in an incubator after a video surfaced on social media. It was also discovered that there were burn marks on the waist of the newborn. The newborn baby was admitted to the hospital but died on June 6. While the doctor has said that the baby had septicemia, the family has alleged that the baby lost its life because of the doctor's negligence. A two-member committee has been formed in this case to investigate the matter and to provide a report on the matter as soon as possible. If found guilty, strict action will be initiated as per the police statement.
