On Monday, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte came to Bengaluru and met with DK Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka, at Vidhana Soudha.

In addition to attending the G20 summit in India, Mark Rutte is meeting informally with ministers from the Karnataka government.

Around G20 Summit

Alongside the G20 Summit in New Delhi on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met privately with his Dutch counterpart Mark Rutte. He also went to the September 9–10 G20 Summit, which was held under the Indian Presidency.

The two presidents talked about ways to strengthen their bilateral relationship throughout the meeting. They also discussed ways to improve their mutually beneficial trade and investment, security and defense, clean energy and green hydrogen, and other areas of cooperation.

The official statement

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, “The two leaders discussed ways to deepen their bilateral partnership, including cooperation in trade and investment, defense and security, clean energy and green hydrogen, semiconductors, cyber and digital technology, among others”

The G20 Summit and India’s G20 Presidency were successful, and Rutte complimented PM Modi on both occasions. According to MEA, he also wished India luck on the Aditya moon mission and complimented them on the accomplishments of the Chandrayaan mission. PM Modi and Mark Rutte spoke about a range of international and regional matters during their conversation.

PM Modi on strengthening relations

PM Modi stated on Sunday that there is huge potential for business cooperation with the Netherlands.

Taking to his official social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi stated, “Excellent meeting with @MinPres Mark Rutte. We talked about ways to enhance friendship between our nations. The scope of cooperation for our businesses is immense. We also look forward to strong ties in clean energy, semiconductors, digital technology, and more.”

Meanwhile, Mark Rutte thanked PM Modi for his leadership during the G20 Summit. In a post shared on X, Rutte stated, “Many thanks to Prime Minister @narendramodi for his leadership during this important G20 Summit. Today we also met to discuss the strong relations between India and the Netherlands, and our shared wish to further broaden and deepen our ties.”

Rutte on G20 Summit

According to Rutte, digitalization and the expanding significance of artificial intelligence were among the main topics of discussion during India’s G20 Presidency. He also placed a wreath at Rajghat, the site of Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial.

In a post shared on X, Rutte stated, “Looking back on a successful #G20India. A major topic under discussion today was digitalisation and especially the growing role of artificial intelligence. It’s crucial that we join together at the international level to adopt rules on this so that this technology can be used safely and inclusively in our societies. A working session that I took part in was devoted to ensuring that this process ran smoothly. This morning I also had the honor to lay a wreath at Rajghat, the memorial for Mahatma Gandhi, together with all attending leaders.”

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte arrived in India on Friday to take part in the G20 conference. General VK Singh (Ret.), Union Minister of State met him at the airport. To greet the Dutch prime minister, a group of dancers also performed a traditional dance.
