Nearly 50 per cent candidates skip NEET-UG retest exam; 110 aspirants debarred

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has imposed sanctions on an additional 17 candidates from Bihar for alleged malpractice during the NEET exam. This development brings the total number of disqualified candidates to 110 this year. Initially debarring 63 students from Bihar and 30 from Godhara, Gujarat, the NTA's decision follows thorough scrutiny and received inputs.

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday conducted a retest of the NEET-UG examination at six locations across four states and a Union Territory. According to the testing panel, 750 applicants did not take the exam, and 813 out of 1,563 candidates showed up for a retest on June 23.

Where test took place? 

The test was held following the NTA's withdrawal of the grace marks granted to students who were reimbursed for lost time as a result of the exam's delayed start at six locations in Meghalaya, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Chandigarh. Neither of the two students who were supposed to take the NEET-UG retest in Chandigarh showed up at the testing location.

SC rulling in NEET-UG 2024

There were two locations for the exam in Chhattisgarh, and 602 students could retake it. 291 candidates showed up for today's exam. For 494 candidates, arrangements were made at two exam locations in Haryana. 287 of these students showed up for the test. 234 of the 464 eligible candidates who were in Meghalaya sat the test today. One candidate in Gujarat had a retest. After the Supreme Court's ruling, the NTA withdrew the compensatory marks given to these candidates.

1,563 students were valid for retest

The NTA-established committee made the decision to invalidate the scorecards of these 1,563 students and provided them with the opportunity to retake the exam as compensation. The date of the reexamination was set for June 23.

NTA debars 17 more candidates for NEET Exam irregularities

When result will be out? 

Before June 30, the results for the same will be made public.
