The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken a firm stand against Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate and party leader HS Ahir for their alleged derogatory social media posts targeting actor Kangana Ranaut. In a letter addressed to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the NCW urged for immediate and strict action against the offenders for their lewd and derogatory remarks, emphasising the need to uphold respect and dignity for all women.Expressing dismay over the conduct of Shrinate and Ahir, NCW chief Rekha Sharma conveyed the commissions strong disapproval of such behavior, stating that it is unacceptable and contrary to the dignity of women. This development was shared by the NCW on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting their commitment to ensuring accountability for actions that undermine womens dignity.Responding to Shrinates remarks allegedly targeting Ranaut, Sharma reiterated her support for the actor, recognising her as a fighter and a shining star. Shrinate, a former journalist, clarified that her social media accounts are managed by multiple individuals, and the objectionable post was made by someone else and has since been removed.In a video statement, Shrinate expressed her disbelief at the incident, affirming that she never makes personal or indecent comments about any woman. Similarly, Ahir, a Congress leader from Gujarat, distanced himself from the offensive post, attributing it to someone with access to his social media accounts and assuring that it had been taken down.Meanwhile, the BJP has called for swift action from the Congress party in response to this controversy. However, as of now, there has been no official statement or action taken by the Congress or its senior leaders regarding this matter.
