Naxalite IED blast in Sukma claims lives of two CRPF soldiers

New Delhi:  A deadly attack by Naxalites in Sukma district, Chhattisgarh, has resulted in the martyrdom of two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon during a routine operation (ROP) by the 201 Cobra Corps.

IED detonated during patrol

The CRPF personnel were patrolling the route between Camp Silger and Camp Tekalgudem when their truck encountered an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites. The blast, which took place around 3 pm, tragically claimed the lives of the driver and co-driver of the vehicle.

Who are the deceased soldiers?

The martyred jawans have been identified as Vishnu R and Shailendra. While details regarding other soldiers involved in the patrol remain unclear, reports suggest they are unharmed. Efforts are currently underway to recover the bodies of the fallen soldiers and notify their families.

Escalating tensions in Sukma

This attack comes amidst heightened security measures in Sukma, following a recent anti-Naxalite operation launched on June 15th. During this operation, a joint force comprising District Reserve Guard, Bastar Fighters, and CRPF's Cobra battalion successfully raided a Maoist hideout and recovered a significant cache of explosives.
