UP News: In Unnao, a group of Muslim women has publicly voiced opposition to the construction of a temple, stating concerns over being disturbed by the temple bell's sound. The statement, which has circulated widely on social media, has intensified tensions in Ranipur village. Local authorities are working to contain the unrest, as the situation remains sensitive.

Family supporting temple development moves to Lucknow after harassment

A family that had pledged to build the temple has reportedly relocated to Lucknow, alleging harassment from local opposition. According to residents, there are approximately 130 Muslim families and 30 Hindu families in Ranipur. The dispute began when Hindu residents attempted to enhance an existing religious platform by erecting a roof over it, a move that was met with objection from Muslim residents. This platform, which houses a Shivling and serves as a venue for Hindu religious ceremonies, had been used for rituals such as Mundan, Chhedan, and marriage ceremonies.

Historical significance of the temple site

Local Hindu residents claim the platform has been a central part of village life for over 70 years. “There is a 70-year-old Shiv temple in front of Shiv Bahadur Vishwakarma’s house where rituals are held,” explained village residents Hiralal Ramnaresh and Geeta. The structure has a protective netting and support columns, and recent attempts to add a roof triggered resistance from a few Muslim residents.

Concerns over noise and proximity to mosque spark disagreement

Muslim residents, including Nihal, Anees Khan, and Asgar Khan, argued that the loudspeakers from the temple could cause disturbances as their mosque is located only 100 meters away. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to prevent escalation.
