In an effort to tackle the growing menace of drug addiction, Nagpur Police, under Commissioner Ravinder Singal, has launched a citywide campaign 'Let's come together and make a drug-free Nagpur’. The initiative, in partnership with local NGOs, aims to raise awareness, promote healthy lifestyles, and engage the community through sports and educational programs.
Recognizing the rising concerns over substance abuse, the Nagpur Police have intensified their efforts to create a drug-free city. The campaign is being conducted in collaboration with Priyadarshini Samrat Ashok Bahuudeshiya Sanstha Va Mitra Mandal Parivar and Nuri Mahfil Bahuudeshiya Sanstha. These organizations will work alongside law enforcement to spread awareness and guide affected individuals toward rehabilitation.
Commissioner Ravinder Singal emphasized the importance of community participation in combating drug addiction, stating, "The fight against drugs is not just the responsibility of law enforcement. It requires collective efforts from society to create a safer and healthier environment for the youth."
To promote a healthy and active lifestyle, a volleyball tournament is scheduled for February 16 at 6 PM at Rambagh Housing Colony Maidan, Imambada. The event aims to engage young people in sports, keeping them away from negative influences and fostering team spirit. Local authorities believe that encouraging sports activities can play a crucial role in preventing drug abuse among teenagers and young adults.
On February 17 at 6 PM, a public awareness meeting will be held at the same venue. The meeting will include discussions on the dangers of drug addiction, real-life experiences shared by former addicts, and guidance from police officials and social workers. The session aims to educate the public on recognizing early signs of addiction, seeking help, and supporting rehabilitation programs.
Senior officers will address attendees on the legal consequences of drug abuse and the importance of community vigilance.
Nagpur Police have urged citizens to actively participate in these events and support the movement against drug addiction. By creating awareness and fostering community involvement, the initiative hopes to bring about a significant reduction in substance abuse cases in the city.
This campaign marks a critical step in ensuring a safer, healthier, and more responsible society. Citizens are encouraged to spread awareness and take proactive steps in keeping their neighborhoods drug-free.
