50 arrested in Nagpur violent protest (X/@haqkibaat3)
Clashes became violent in Nagpur's central area on Monday, leaving dozens injured and causing widespread damage in their trail. The violence was triggered by protests demanding the demolition of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's tomb in Khultabad
Mobs torched two bulldozers and 40 vehicles, including police vans, and security forces fought hard to suppress the violence. A minimum of 10 anti-riot commandos, two top police officers, and two firefighters were badly injured, and a constable is in critical condition.
Police launched a large crackdown, and 50 rioters were taken into custody, while the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) requested a report on the agitation. The agitations are hardly two weeks away from Prime Minister Modi's potential visit to Nagpur.
Maharashtra Police have now started taking action against the rioters, Aurangzeb sympathizers who pelted stones, set vehicles on fire and vandalized properties in Nagpur.

The riot erupted after the rumor of protesters from a particular community torching an effigy of Aurangzeb and a religious chadar outside Shivaji Putla Square. The officials said false news spread on social media contributed significantly to the violence.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari urged Nagpurites not to believe rumors and support the law enforcement agencies. Fadnavis claimed that Nagpur was always a peaceful city where people lived in harmony.
In the site of Aurangzeb's tomb, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, VHP and Bajrang Dal organized demonstrations, vowing to demolish the tomb if the government fails to shift. VHP warned that they would step up their agitation in the entire Marathwada and other districts if nothing comes out of it.
