A bizarre and alarming incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district when a man went on a biting rampage, creating widespread panic in the city on Wednesday. The man was eventually restrained with the help of locals and police, who managed to capture him using a rope. He was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment, where the situation was brought under control. The locals breathed a sigh of relief after the man was apprehended, ending the tense atmosphere.

Initially, it was suspected that the man was suffering from hydrophobia, a condition caused by rabies, typically after being bitten by an unvaccinated stray dog. Hydrophobia can result in erratic behavior, including aggression and biting tendencies. However, medical professionals at the hospital suggested that the man may actually be suffering from neuropsychosis, a severe mental disorder. He has since been referred to a higher medical center for further diagnosis and treatment.

A video of the incident that goes viral shows the man in a disturbing condition as authorities took him to the hospital. The footage has drawn widespread attention on social media, amplifying concerns about the growing stray animal menace in the area.

Stray animal menace and human-animal conflict on the rise

This incident highlights the ongoing issues with stray animals in Muzaffarnagar, particularly stray dogs and monkeys. Just a few days prior, a local man named Nikhil Agrawal tragically died after being bitten by a stray dog, adding to the growing fears of residents.

Local citizens have expressed frustration over the increasing number of attacks, with several incidents of stray animals, particularly dogs and monkeys, attacking people. Some of these attacks have even resulted in fatalities. Despite complaints lodged with civic authorities, the response has been disheartening. A resident shared that the authorities admitted they lacked the necessary teams to catch the monkeys causing havoc in the area, leaving locals feeling helpless.

The growing stray menace continues to raise safety concerns, urging the authorities to take immediate action to prevent further incidents.
