Famous for his series of poetry on motherhood, Munawwar Rana, Indias esteemed Urdu poet has been hospitalised in a Lucknow hospital on Thursday, reports stated. He has been put on ventilator and next three days are quite critical for his health, doctors have informed. Rana is 70 years old.Born in Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh in 1952, Munawwar Rana has spent most of his life in Kolkata. The Sahitya Akademi Awardee is married to Raina Rana and five children.The Urdu poet is mostly known for his couplets (shayaris) on motherhood and mothers. He is known to make umpteen usage of Hindi and Awadhi vocabulary along with Urdu. This has always made his poetry quite understandable and accessible for art and poetry enthusiasts. He is also known for respecting the Hindi language in his couplets and urging others too to do the same in events and performances.
