The monsoon season usually arrives in July and continues through September, bringing relief with cooler temperatures and occasional heavy rainfall. Giving much respite from the scorching heat, the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to heavy rains for the next week. According to the weather department, the rains are likely to lash over the northern region for the next few days.Meanwhile, the IMD has also predicted heavy rains over several parts of Uttarakhand and some isolated parts of the Kumaon region. Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pauri districts will also witness rain spells.Himachal Pradesh will see light to moderate rain in several parts for the next 48 hours, according to IMD. Thunders and lightning are likely in most places. According to the reports, the heavy rains have disrupted vehicular movements in several areas of the state. Almost 115 roads have seen a pause in the movements of vehicles. The Shimla weather department has also issued an orange alert and asked people to stay indoors. West Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh has also been warned about heavy rainfall.Meanwhile, Maharashtras Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rains for the past couple of days, which has waterlogged several areas in the city, causing disruptions in local trains and life of people. Light rains will also be experienced in eastern areas. Though Delhi has got a respite from rains after the scorching heat, it will witness more rains over the next few days.
