Mumbai Court grants bail to father of BMW hit-and-run accused

New Delhi: A Mumbai court granted bail to Rajesh Shah, a leader of Shinde Sena and father of Mihir Shah, who is accused in a BMW hit-and-run case, on Monday. Rajesh Shah was released on bail by the court upon posting a bond of Rs 15,000. Earlier, the accused's father sought bail right after the court remanded him to 14-day judicial custody.

Meanwhile, his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, was arrested. Both were arrested for allegedly assisting Mihir Shah, involved in a hit-and-run in Worli that caused a woman's death, in escaping from the scene.

Several charges on accused 

Following extensive police interrogation, Rajesh Shah, who also serves as the deputy leader of Shinde Sena in Palghar district, was taken into custody. The police stated that the BMW involved in the accident was registered under his name.

The accused have been charged under several sections, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray, who represents the Worli assembly constituency, called for immediate police action devoid of political influence. He stressed the importance of delivering justice to the victims and their families.

What police says? 

According to the police, the victims, residents of Worli's Koliwada area, were returning from Sassoon Dock after buying fish when the accident occurred near Atria Mall around 5:30 AM.
