A woman has been killed after the balcony and some parts of the Ground floor of Rubinissa Manzil building near Grant Road Railway Station in Mumbai collapsed on Saturday. According to the sources, few residents are feared trapped below the debris. Soon after the incident was reported, the fire officials, ambulances, police & local BMC officials reached the site and started the rescue operations. As per fire officials, 13 people have been rescued so far.
CCTV visuals from the vicinity of a nearby shop show the exact visuals of the structure collapse. While the portion of the building collapsed, some other parts of the building were seen hanging precariously.
According to officials, the incident happened due to heavy rains in Mumbai. Meanwhile, rescue operations to take out the people from the debris are underway.
Red alert by IMD in Mumbai
The incessant rain spells have majorly affected the bus and railway services in Mumbai, resulting in the slowing down of public transport. Apart from this, the mainline of the Central Railway also got delayed due to technical glitch in the train engine.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning for the heavy rains in the region.
