New Delhi: In a shocking case, Mulund Police have arrested a 50-year-old man, Daya Shankar Zamindar Rajbhar, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy over a period of eight months. The arrest was made following a complaint filed by the boys father after a concerned neighbor exposed the incident.Neighbour uncovers abuseThe matter came to light on September 18 when a neighbour of the victim spotted the boy and Rajbhar near a public washroom on LBS Road in Mulund. According to the neighbors statement to the police, he had previously seen the two entering the washroom together but dismissed it as coincidental. This time, sensing something unusual, he followed them inside and discovered the boy being sexually abused. The neighbour immediately intervened, rescuing the boy and informing his father.Victims statement reveals months of abuseThe victim, a Class 9 student, provided a statement to the police revealing that the abuse began in February. Rajbhar allegedly lured the boy with chocolates and snacks, coercing him into public washrooms where the assaults took place. Over time, Rajbhar began threatening the boy with harm to his parents if he refused to comply or reported the abuse.Police action and investigationAfter the incident was reported, police registered an FIR and arrested Rajbhar on September 19. During questioning, Rajbhar confessed to the crime but exhibited abnormal behaviour, according to authorities. He has been remanded into police custody while further investigations are underway.The accused has been charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
