Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has found himself in a troubling situation after receiving an anonymous email from an anonymous person who demands a hefty sum of Rs 200 crore on Saturday. An official of Mumbai Police said that the alarming communication came just a day after a prior email threatened his life unless he paid Rs 20 crore.

FIR lodged against unidentified person

In response to these menacing emails, a FIR has been lodged at the Gamdevi police station by the industrialist's security personnel.

Furthermore, he said that the initial email, which demanded only Rs 20 crore but also included a threat to kill him if the demand went unmet, arrived on Friday. Moreover, the same unidentified sender escalated the threat, now seeking a significantly larger sum of Rs 200 crore on Saturday.

Legal action has been initiated under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with sections 387 (pertaining to putting an individual in fear of death or serious harm to facilitate extortion) and 506 (2) (involving criminal intimidation) being invoked. Authorities are actively working to haunt the individual behind these threats.

It's worth noting that in the previous year, the Mumbai police successfully apprehended an individual from Bihar's Darbhanga district for making death threats against Mukesh Ambani and his family members. The accused had also issued threats of a potential explosion at the Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.
