Muharram procession turns fatal after Tazia comes under high-tension wire

At least two people have lost their lives and several got burnt after Tazia came under the grip of high-tension wire during a procession on the Muharram in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur. The incident came to light after some shocking visuals surfaced on social media showing dozens of Tajiadars who were burnt. 

According to the media sources, the incident happened on Wednesday.

However, the official statement on the incident is yet awaited…

Meanwhile, another incident has been reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri where a Dalit labourer was reportedly beaten with sticks and forced to drink urine when he demanded the rightful wage of Rs 500. Soon after this, the victim approached the police to register a complaint, but was turned down after calling the claims ‘baseless’. However, police filed the complaint after the Bhim Army protested the matter.

As per sources, the incident happened in Bagedari village under the jurisdiction of Karera police station on July 14.
