New Delhi: A tragedy unfolded in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, where two close friends died by suicide in an incident that has left the community reeling. The suspected cause? A possible misinterpretation of spiritual teachings.

Aman Verma (23) and Balendra (21) were found dead on Tuesday night after consuming sulphas, a poisonous substance. The event has sparked debate and raised concerns about the influence of spiritual ideologies, particularly when taken to extremes.

WhatsApp status hints at troubled minds

Just before their deaths, both Aman and Balendra posted cryptic messages on their WhatsApp statuses. Aman's messages were particularly unsettling, including a video of a funeral procession with the caption "You are on your way, I am on my way." Another status read, "Choose such a work in life, which is your joy, not your business." The final post was a video of a burning corpse. Balendra, meanwhile, kept his message simple yet profound: "Death is the only truth."

These messages raise a troubling question: Were Aman and Balendra influenced by spiritual leader Osho's teachings to the point of seeking death? The investigation is ongoing, but the friends' reported fascination with Osho's discourses suggests a possible connection.

Deep friendship and shared beliefs

Aman, a married man who ran a medical store, and Balendra, who was unmarried and frequented Aman's shop, reportedly shared a close bond. Police investigation revealed that they visited a graveyard on Tuesday, where they presumably consumed the poison.

The news has plunged both families into inconsolable grief. While the exact reasons behind the drastic action remain unclear, the possibility of a spiritual misinterpretation adds another layer of complexity to this heartbreaking story.

Authorities investigate motive

Jalaun's Additional Superintendent of Police confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the suicides. The officers are looking into Aman and Balendra's backgrounds, including their mental health and the influence Osho's teachings might have played in their decision.

This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of misinterpreting spiritual philosophies. It also highlights the importance of open communication and mental health awareness, especially among young people.
