Mount Kailash will soon be accessible from India

From September this year, devotees will be able to visit Mount Kailash, which is believed to be the adobe of Lord Shiva, according to Hindu mythology.

According to the officials, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has already started working on the project. The cutting of the roads from KMVN huts in Nabhidhang in Pithoragarh district to Lipulekh pass on the India-China border will get completed by September, this year in the weather conditions will support.

The Chief Engineer of BRO’s Diamond project, Vimal Goswami said, “We have started the work of cutting the road from KMVN Huts to Lipulekh Pass in Nabhidhang, about six and a half kilometres long and after the completion of the work the ‘Kailash View Point’ will be ready along the road.”

The approval for access to the alternate road for the devotees to access Mount Kailash has been given by the Government of India.

In May, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari informed that 80-85% of the work has been complete for the new route via Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand.

How long will be the new route?

According to the official information, the newly built route through the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand comprises three stretches. The first stretch is from Pithoragarh to Tawaghat which will cover 107.6 km, the second is from Tawaghat to Ghatiabgarh, which is a 19.5-km single lane, and the third one is from Ghatiabgarh to Lipulekh Pass at the China border.
