Providing some much-needed relief to the state after several regions had been severely scorched, the southwest monsoon arrived in Maharashtra on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the monsoon would move through Mumbai, the remaining portions of Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and southern Chhattisgarh over the next three to four days.

The monsoon's development has been almost average thus far, but it hasn't reached other places, leaving such areas with persistently high temperatures and scorching conditions, the Indian Meteorological Department said.

Apart from this, several areas will see a dip in temperature. Maximum temperatures are in the range of 42-44°C over many parts of Madhya Pradesh; in some parts of Vidarbha; in isolated pockets of Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and West Uttar Pradesh and the range of 40-42°C over some parts of Odisha.

In addition to this, hailstorms along with squalls (50-60 km) are very likely in isolated pockets of Uttarakhand and West Rajasthan on June 7.

However, several places will continue to experience severe heat waves for the next few days. This includes Uttar Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.
