Monsoon mayhem in Himachal: Four dead, over 50 missing in Mandi, Shimla

The cloudburst in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi and Shimla has claimed at least four lives and more than 50 people are reported missing.

The situation in Himachal Pradesh is quite severe due to recent cloudbursts. Reports indicate that around 50 people are missing following the cloudbursts in the region. According to the officials, restoration works are underway in Rampur Bushahr where the incident happened. 

According to the reports, four people have died and several are still reported missing. Meanwhile, the chief minister has conducted high-level meetings with the authorities to take stock of the situation in the disaster-hit areas. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister said that NDRF, Army has been actively carrying out the rescue operations in the area.  

Weather Warnings

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a flash flood warning and a ‘red alert’ for the districts of Kullu, Mandi, and Kangra due to the ongoing heavy rainfall and its impacts.

Apart from this, the police department has informed that NDRF and, the fire and rescue team together have successfully rescued 22 persons stranded in the Malana Dam site. 

Notably, the cloudbursts have caused significant damage, leading to severe concerns. The authorities are working on rescue and relief operations to manage the situation and assist those affected.
