New Delhi: Heavy rains have brought devastating consequences to Delhi, leading to the tragic drowning of six people, including four children, in separate incidents. The incessant downpours have left the city in chaos, with waterlogged streets and submerged underpasses. A 60-year-old man, Digvijay Kumar Chaudhary, lost his life after drowning in a flooded underpass in Okhla. The underpass had been submerged for over 24 hours due to continuous rainfall. The incident came to light when the Okhla Industrial Area Police Station received a distress call at around 6:30 AM on Friday. Upon arrival, they found Digvijay unconscious and immediately rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Initial investigations revealed that Digvijay had ridden his TVS Scooty into the flooded underpass, leading to the tragic accident.Two boys drown in Samaypur BadliOn Saturday afternoon, two boys drowned in a waterlogged section of an underpass in the Samaypur Badli area of outer north Delhi. The incident occurred near the Siraspur underpass, which was flooded with around 2.5 to 3 feet of water. Police received a distress call about the drowning at around 2:25 PM. A team was dispatched to the scene, where they conducted a search operation with the fire brigades help. The bodies of the boys were later recovered. It appeared that the boys had drowned while taking a bath in the flooded area. Their bodies were sent for postmortem.Young boys drown in rainwater-filled ditchOn Friday, two boys, aged 8 and 10, drowned while playing in a rainwater-filled ditch in northeast Delhi. The incident occurred in a five-foot-deep ditch near Pusta No. 5 in the New Usmanpur area, which had filled with water due to the rains.Police rushed to the spot upon receiving information about the incident and rescued the boys. However, they were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.Meanwhile, a man in his late 20s drowned in a flooded underpass in northwest Delhis Shalimar Bagh area.
