Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa faces serious allegations in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case, with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Karnataka Police filing a chargesheet in a special court recently. The case, initiated by the minor's mother earlier this year, has brought to light disturbing details of the incident.

According to the charge sheet, Yediyurappa allegedly held the minor girl's right wrist with his left hand during her visit, leading her to a meeting room adjacent to the main hall, where he locked the door behind them. Inside, the charge sheet states that Yediyurappa questioned the young girl about the person who assaulted her previously. When the girl, then six and a half years old, confirmed recognition, Yediyurappa allegedly molested her.

Reportedly distressed, the girl pushed Yediyurappa's hand away and demanded the door be opened. Subsequently, Yediyurappa gave her money and unlocked the door, as detailed in the charge sheet. Upon leaving the room, he also gave money to the complainant and expressed his inability to assist her further, according to police records.

The situation escalated further on February 20 this year when the complainant posted a video of her visit on Facebook. Allegedly, Yediyurappa's aides (identified as A2, A3, and A4 in the chargesheet) summoned the complainant and her daughter back to his residence. The chargesheet claims that Yediyurappa persuaded the complainant to delete the video and photos from social media and her phone gallery. Additionally, one of his aides reportedly handed Rs 2 lakh to the complainant.

In response to these charges, BS Yediyurappa has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking the dismissal of the sexual assault allegations involving the minor. The 81-year-old politician has been charged under Section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of the POCSO Act and Section 354A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case continues to unfold amidst public scrutiny and legal proceedings.
