At a state dinner honouring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the greatest names from Silicon Valley descended upon Washington on Thursday as President Joe Biden attempted to enhance connections between the US and India in the tech sector.

CEOs from several companies attended the event at the White House, including Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc., Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet Inc., and Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft Corp, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Foundation Chairperson, Nita Ambani. At the third state dinner of Biden’s presidency, superstars including Billie Jean King and Ralph Lauren joined them.

The chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra was among the big personalities who were invited to the lavish dinner.

Corporate executives’ attendance at the event on Thursday brought attention to PM Modi’s initiatives to position India as a manufacturing and technology partner for the US as part of a larger drive to increase New Delhi’s diplomatic and commercial connections around the world.

First Lady Jill Biden collaborated with guest chef Nina Curtis, a Sacramento, California-based culinary artist renowned for her inventive plant-based food, to develop the menu to satisfy PM Modi, a vegetarian.

Joshua Bell, a Grammy-winning American violinist and conductor, Penn Masala, a South Asian a cappella group created by the University of Pennsylvania students, and the United States Marine Band Chamber Orchestra performed throughout the evening’s entertainment.
