Narendra Modi is set to embark on his third consecutive term as Prime Minister, with his oath-taking ceremony scheduled for Sunday. Following his election as the leader of the parliamentary party in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) during a meeting on Friday, the NDA delegation wasted no time in staking their claim to form the government before President Draupadi Murmu, presenting a letter of support. Subsequently, President Murmu extended an invitation to Modi to form the government, which he accepted.

Timing of oath ceremony

The official swearing-in ceremony, where President Murmu will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Narendra Modi and his Union Council of Ministers, is slated to take place at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9 at 07:15 PM.

International dignitaries who are invited

In a gesture of diplomatic goodwill, India has extended invitations to several international dignitaries, including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu, Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth, and Seychelles President Wavell Ramkhelawan, to attend PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony. Additionally, Nepal's Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will be among the distinguished guests, embarking on a three-day visit to India starting Sunday.

Security measures are very tight

Security measures in the capital city of Delhi are being escalated ahead of the swearing-in ceremony, with a three-tier security apparatus planned. Rashtrapati Bhavan will be fortified with the deployment of five companies of paramilitary forces, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, drones, and snipers. Given the attendance of numerous foreign leaders, Delhi will be on high alert, with the entire city declared a no-fly zone for June 9 and 10. The Delhi Police have implemented various restrictions to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. A comprehensive multi-layered security arrangement is set to develop the Rashtriya Bhawan for PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony.

The responsibility for ensuring the security of foreign dignitaries falls upon the country's intelligence agencies, which have intensified vehicle checks across Delhi. Entry into high-security zones has been restricted, with rigorous screening procedures in place around Rashtrapati Bhavan and its vicinity. Hotels accommodating foreign guests are under scrutiny, with security measures being enhanced to guarantee their safety.

Preparation are on

As the clock ticks down to the swearing-in ceremony, preparations are underway to accommodate and secure the foreign guests. Control rooms manned by Delhi Police are being established at strategic locations to monitor and respond to any emergent threats. Following the swearing-in ceremony, the new Union Cabinet will convene to finalize the dates for the upcoming session. During the session, Prime Minister Modi will introduce his Council of Ministers to both Houses of Parliament, with proceedings anticipated to conclude by June 22. The dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha on June 5, on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet, set the stage for these developments.
