Modi Cabinet’s Big Rail Push: 4 Projects to Transform Three States

In a bold move to revolutionize India’s railway network, the Modi Cabinet has given the green light to four ambitious projects set to reshape connectivity in Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Announced during a high-stakes cabinet meeting, this initiative promises to boost infrastructure and economic growth across these key states.

Many railway projects have been approved in the cabinet of Modi government. Giving information about the cabinet decision, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that 4 projects of the Railway Ministry have been approved, whose total cost is Rs 18,658 crore.

Increase in rail network by about 1247 km
Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology in the Modi government, further said on these decisions that the projects covering 15 districts of Maharashtra, Odisha and Chhattisgarh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 1247 km.

Goods trains can bypass Bilaspur and Raipur… faster movement on Howrah-Mumbai route
Will boost economic activities in Chhattisgarh and improve logistics capacity
Beneficiary Districts: Raigarh, Hanjgir-Champa, Sakti, Bilaspur, Baloda Bazar, Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon

Bridges: 48 major bridges, 349 minor bridges, 14 ROBs, 184 RUBs, 5 rail flyovers
Length: 278 km route length; 615 km track length
Traffic: 21 to 38 million tonnes of freight; 8 mail/express/semi-high speed trains
CO2 savings: 113 crore kg per year (equivalent to planting 4.5 crore trees)
Diesel savings: 22 crore liters per year
Logistics cost savings: ₹2,520 crore per year (compared to road transport)..
Gondia - Balharshah railway line doubling (₹4,819 crore)
This major railway route connects the northern states to the southern states.
Covers several major tourist destinations: Nagzira Sanctuary and Navagaon National Park.
It will boost economic activities in Vidarbha and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra and several districts of Telangana.
Beneficiary Districts: Gondia, Bhandara, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur.
