In today's Cabinet meeting, it was decided to extend assistance to an additional three crore rural and urban households to address the growing need for housing, stated officials.
The Government of India has been implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) since 2015-16 to provide support to eligible rural and urban families in constructing homes with essential amenities.
Over the past decade, a total of 4.21 crore houses have been completed for deserving low-income families through various housing schemes. All houses constructed under PMAY receive essential facilities such as household toilets, LPG connections, electricity, and functional household tap connections, achieved through collaboration with central and state government initiatives.
