New Delhi: In a shocking development from Jharkhands Palamu district, Manishanker Mishra, an MNREGA employment officer, has been accused of raping a 12-year-old girl. The victims complaint details a harrowing incident on August 15, when Mishra allegedly covered her mouth with a cloth, took her on his bike to a secluded area near the Son River, and sexually assaulted her. The victim also reported a similar abuse two years prior, when Mishra allegedly lured her with ₹500 and explicit content.Haider Nagar police station in-charge Afzal Ansari confirmed that an FIR has been lodged under the BNS and POCSO Act. Authorities are currently searching for Mishra. The victim, who is reportedly illiterate, has faced ongoing trauma from these abuses.Gang-rape of minor Dalit girl in ChandilIn a separate case, a minor Dalit girl studying in class IX was gang-raped by three men in Chandils Tiruldih police station area on August 13. The girl was attacked while returning home from school. The accused—Jeetu Singh Munda, Ravi Singh Munda, and Gurucharan Singh Munda—ambushed her near the Sapada culvert, sexually assaulted her, and threatened to kill her if she reported the crime.The victim initially stayed silent but informed her family on August 19. Following her report, SDPO Sunil Rajwar and Inspector Ajay Kumar led a swift investigation and arrested the suspects that evening. The accused are now in custody, facing serious charges.
