A tragic incident unfolded in Haryana's Faridabad district when a 19-year-old student, Aryan Mishra, was fatally shot after being mistaken for a cattle smuggler. The incident occurred on the night of August 23 when Aryan was returning home after a late-night outing with friends.

The Fatal Night

Aryan, along with his friends Harshit and Shanky, was driving a red SUV when they were approached by a group of cow vigilantes. The group, consisting of Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurav, had reportedly received information about cattle smugglers operating in the area using a similar vehicle. Believing Aryan and his friends to be involved in illegal cattle transportation, the vigilantes attempted to stop their car.

High-Speed Chase Ends in Tragedy

Frightened by the aggressive approach, Harshit, who was driving, decided to flee rather than stop, triggering a high-speed chase that lasted for 25 kilometres. The chase continued until they reached the Palwal toll plaza, where Harshit tried to break through a barrier. It was at this point that the vigilantes opened fire on the vehicle. A bullet pierced the rear window, striking Aryan, who was seated in the front passenger seat.

Despite the injury, Harshit managed to pull the car over, but the assailants were not done. They approached the vehicle and fired another shot, this time into Aryan’s chest, killing him on the spot.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The local police quickly responded to the incident, arrest all five suspects. During questioning, the accused initially attempted to mislead investigators by claiming they had disposed of the murder weapon in a canal. However, the weapon was eventually recovered from Anil Kaushik's residence.

This horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of vigilantism and the dire consequences of mistaken identity.
