Mirzapur news: In a shocking and tragic incident in Bajha village, Kachwan police station area of Mirzapur district, an 8-year-old boy was brutally murdered, his throat slit in cold blood. The horrifying crime was reportedly committed by a young neighbor in a fit of rage, following a minor altercation during play.

Child disappears after playtime

On Sunday evening, Ashu, the 10-year-old son of Sachanu, left home to graze his goats in the nearby fields. As the evening wore on and he didn’t return, his worried family began a frantic search. Villagers last saw Ashu near the Baram Baba temple, where he was playing with his goats.

Hours later, around 10 PM, his family made a grim discovery. Ashu’s lifeless body was found buried in a shallow pit, covered with mud and concealed by an acacia branch. The gruesome scene sent shockwaves through the village.

Police investigation and arrest

After being alerted, local authorities arrived at the scene and transported Ashu’s body to the community health center. Tragically, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Following the devastating discovery, villagers gathered outside the health center in protest, demanding justice. The protest continued until 4 AM, when Superintendent of Police Abhinandan arrived and assured the family of swift action. The body was then sent for a post-mortem examination.

Superintendent Abhinandan later revealed that the accused, 20-year-old Himanshu Upadhyay, a neighbor living just 100 meters from Ashu’s home, had been arrested. The police confirmed that Himanshu attacked Ashu with a sharp weapon, killing him in a violent fit of anger.

Motive behind the murder

The motive behind the senseless act was a minor altercation that occurred earlier that day. According to the police, Ashu had accidentally hit Himanshu with a brick while they were playing. Enraged by the incident, Himanshu allegedly decided to take matters into his own hands, resulting in the horrific murder.

Post-mortem revelations

The post-mortem report painted an even grimmer picture. It revealed that Himanshu had stabbed Ashu not once, but 17 times across his back, chest, stomach, and neck. The brutality of the attack didn’t stop there—four of Ashu’s ribs were broken, and his neck had been severely wounded with a shovel. The repeated stabbings and violence left no doubt that the murder was premeditated and carried out with cruel intent.

Justice sought by community

As the village grapples with the horrific loss, the police have recovered the weapon used in the crime, and the investigation is ongoing. The senseless murder of young Ashu has left the community devastated, as they seek justice for the innocent child whose life was brutally taken.
