New Delhi: A tragic accident occurred on Hasanpur Road in Uttar Pradesh's Amroha when an empty milk canter lost control due to a brake failure. The runaway vehicle first collided with a passenger-laden Magic van and then plowed into a bike mechanic's shop, causing extensive damage and injuries.
The accident resulted in the death of a teenager and left 12 others injured. The deceased, Madhu, was among the passengers of the Magic van. The injured were quickly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention, while Madhu's body was sent for post-mortem.
The incident took place on Sunday around 1:30 PM. The Magic van, carrying passengers from Hapur to a Jagran in Dhawarsi, was parked in front of Azim Complex on Hasanpur Road. The passengers, including Radha Shyam and his family from Hapur district, were taking a break to drink water. Sanjay and his daughter Simmi, who were on a bike, were also present at the scene when the accident occurred.
The out-of-control Mother's Dairy milk canter, coming from the direction of Chaupala, first hit the parked Magic van, then crashed into the shop of a motorcycle mechanic. Several people and bikes were trapped under the canter. The injured were promptly rescued and taken to the hospital by police and bystanders.
