Yaduveer's name has been circulating for some time now as BJP confirmation of the BJP-led ticket rumors were rampant.

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the scion of the former royal Mysuru family, has been given a ticket for Mysuru-Kodagu in the Bharatiya Janata Party's list of candidates for the Karnataka Lok Sabha elections. Yaduveer's name has been circulating for some time now as BJP confirmation of the BJP-led ticket rumors were rampant.

All about Yaduveer Wadiyar

Yaduveer, 32, is the grandson of Jayaramachandra Wadiyar, the 25th and final maharaja to rule Mysore. Yaduveer was adopted and raised by Promoda Devi Wadiyar, who is the wife of Srikanthdatta Wadiyar, Yaduveer's uncle.

Yaduveer completed his education at the Vidyanikethan School in Bengaluru before continuing his studies at the University of Massachusetts in the United States. He has a degree in economics and English literature.

Yaduveer is running for office for the first time, and the BJP chose to put him forward from the important Mysuru district, where the royal family enjoys a strong reputation.

Family of politicians

Srikanthdatta Wadiyar, Yaduveer's uncle, ran and won four times from the same Lok Sabha constituency in Mysuru before on a Congress ticket. On a BJP ticket, he ran for office there in 1991 but was unsuccessful. On a ticket for Congress, he also lost again in 2003.

The Member of Parliament for Mysuru-Kodagu, Pratap Simha, was unable to hold onto his position in this area. Given his confidence in his work for his constituency, Simha, who made headlines last year when there was a security breach at Parliament in New Delhi, expressed optimism that he would keep his seat. But he did state that he would back the BJP candidate running for the Mysuru-Kodagu seat.
