Meet Sanjay Jha, JDU's newly appointed working president

New Delhi: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) on Saturday elected Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha as the working president of the party. The party's national executive meeting was held on Saturday at the Constitution Club in Delhi under the chairmanship of Nitish Kumar, in which apart from Nitish Kumar, KC Tyagi, Lallan Singh, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Devesh Chandra Thakur, and all the important leaders of the party were present. This was being expected even before the meeting. It is being told that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself proposed this, on which all the executive members agreed and approved his name.

Who is Sanjay Jha? 

Sanjay Jha, who came to JDU from BJP, is considered to be a very close and trusted leader of Nitish Kumar. He has served as Minister of Water Resources and Information and Public Relations departments in Government of Bihar. He was also Member of Bihar Legislative Council. In February 2024, he was elected unopposed as Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha to Janata Dal (United) in place of Bashistha Narain Sinha from Bihar. 

Close and trusted leader 

Sanjay Jha is considered as a close and most trusted leader of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. He has overseen critical portfolios in the Bihar Government. 

His vision 

Jha's vision extends beyond infrastructure development, as evidenced by his efforts to transform the Kalpwas Mela site at Samaria Dham into a prominent religious and tourist destination. With a focus on enhancing Bihar's spirtual and cultural landscape, Jha aims to elevate the site's significance akin to Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar. 

Passionate about human welfare 

Sanjay Jha has utilized his legislative presence and funds to establish essential facilities such as hospitals, schools, and community centers. He also donated his ancestral land for the construction of trauma center in Jhanjharpur.

Sanjay Jha is considered as important figure in Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's life. Sanjay Jha played an important role in JDU leaving the Grand Alliance and joining the NDA.

What Ashok Chaudhary said? 

Bihar government minister Ashok Chaudhary has said that this decision will strengthen the party. He congratulated Sanjay Jha for the new responsibility and thanked Nitish Kumar and senior party leaders for this decision. He said that the party is now going to contest elections at the national level. Sanjay Jha will play his role strongly in this. He said that JDU's relations with BJP at the national and state level will become stronger during his tenure. Sanjay Jha played an important role in JDU leaving the Grand Alliance and joining the NDA.
