Meet Rocky, alleged kingpin in NEET UGC paper leak

Rocky, the ninth individual arrested in Bihar, has been taken into custody by the CBI in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak. Moreover, arrests have been made in other states, including Gujarat and Uttarakhand, as the investigation continues.

New Delhi: In a recent development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the alleged kingpin of the Bihar NEET-UG case from Patna on Thursday. Following his arrest, the investigative agency conducted searches at various locations associated with him in Patna and Kolkata. This resulted in the seizure of several documents that are evidence of wrongdoing, according to officials.

A local court has ordered the main suspect Rocky to be held in CBI custody for 10 days, allowing authorities to conduct a thorough interrogation and collect additional evidence to further strengthen their case.

Who is Rocky? 

According to officials, Rakesh Ranjan or Rocky used to run a hotel in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He got the NEET-UG exam questions and sent them to someone named Chintu, who gave them to students with answers. Rocky is related to Sanjeev Mukhia, who is also involved in the case. Rocky helped find people to take the exam for the students after the questions were leaked. Several students from Patna and Ranchi were involved. 

The main accused Rocky who is also being considered as the kingpin of the entire NEET-UG paper leak. He was arrested two days after police detained two other accomplices in Patna. Sunny, a student from Nalanda who was preparing to take the NEET-UG exam and Ranjit Kumar, the father of another student from Gaya, have both been arrested by the authorities.

CBI arrested nine accused

According to reports, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended nine accused in the leak of the NEET-UG paper in Bihar. Earlier, the CBI arrested one person in Latur, Gujarat, another in Godhra, Gujarat and one from Dehradun in connection with alleged manipulation and conspiracy.

The CBI assumed control of the investigation following a nationwide outcry from students who alleged irregularities in the medical entrance examination. Six First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed in the case till now. 

Investigation is underway 

The Bihar FIR pertains to the paper leak, while the FIRs filed in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra involve instances of impersonation and cheating during the exam.
