Despite the partys Rampur unit insisting that Akhilesh run for Lok Sabha from the town, where Azam Khan is currently imprisoned, the decision was made.SP chargers over territory On Tuesday, March 26, SPs presumptive Moradabad challenger, incumbent MP ST Hasan, submitted his nomination papers. One day later, SPs Ruchi Veera, a former MLA from Bijnor, filed her paperwork and announced herself as the partys official candidate. It is said that Ruchi is a devotee of Khan. Ruchis supporters claimed she was the front-runner, although Hasan was likely to be the partys official nominee. Ruchis effigy was set on fire by Hassans supporters. After Ruchi Veera was formally announced as the SPs candidate for Moradabad and Mohibullah Nadvi for Rampur, the uncertainty was eventually resolved. Nadvi, a native of Raza Nagar in Rampur, has served as the imam of Delhis Parliament Street Jama Masjid for around 15 years.March 30 is the deadline for nomination withdrawals. Rampur has been Azam Khans stronghold for more than 40 years. He served as the constituencys MP for one term and MLA for ten. In a letter sent out on Tuesday by the partys local unit, Khan declared that a fair election in Rampur was not feasible. Khan, who is presently serving a prison sentence in Sitapur, also invited party chief Akhilesh Yadav to run from Rampur in order to inspire party workers. Khan gave him the last say in choosing the nominee for the position in the letters conclusion. Rampur Lok Sabha constituency & the lore According to a letter shared by SP district president Ajay Sagar, We urged party national president Akhilesh Yadav to contest from the Rampur Lok Sabha constituency to change the atmosphere of atrocities against party members. But the BJP took the seat in the June 2022 by-election that came after Khan was elected to the state assembly, from which he was removed because of his conviction in a case involving hate speech.Khan was sentenced to seven years in prison and fined Rs 8 lakh by a Rampur court on March 18, this year, for the forced demolition of a house in the Rampur neighborhood of Dungarpur in 2016. Before this case, Khan had been sentenced in five others. He has been found not guilty in two trials.
