Hyderabad Durga Idol Damage: In a recent incident at a Durga Puja pandal, Hyderabad Police arrested a man named Krishnaiah Goud for accidentally damaging the Durga idol. Goud, described as a vagabond who begs for a living, had entered the pandal in search of food when the incident occurred.
According to the police, Goud arrived at the Durga Puja pandal on the morning of the event as he was hungry. While looking for food, he inadvertently scattered the Prasadam (offering), which led to the accidental damage of the Durga idol. The incident has been attributed to negligence on the part of the event organizers.
As per protocol, there should have been a volunteer present at all times to oversee activities at the pandal. However, when the mishap took place, no volunteer was stationed at the spot, allowing the situation to escalate.
"We have booked a case against the organizers," stated Akshansh Yadav, DCP Central Zone, Hyderabad. He confirmed that the organizers violated the guidelines by failing to ensure round-the-clock presence of volunteers at the pandal, which could have prevented the incident.
Some individuals attempted to give the incident a communal angle and spread fake news on social media, which heightened tensions in the area. However, DCP Yadav was quick to clarify, “This incident happened because of negligence on the part of the organizers, not due to any communal intentions.”
He added, “Some people tried to give a communal color to the situation, but it was purely accidental. We urge the public not to believe or spread fake news on social media."
The authorities have taken steps to control the spread of misinformation and urged citizens to remain calm and refrain from giving in to communal provocations.
