PM Modi praises 'Shree Ram Ghar Aaye' Bhajan's singer Geeta Rabari

Calling the song 'emotional', PM Modi wrote on X, "The wait for the arrival of Ram Lala in the divine-grand temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya is about to end. My family members across the country are eagerly waiting for his Pran Pratishtha. This bhajan of Geetaben Rabari ji welcoming him is very emotional."

Who is Geeta Rabari?

  • Geeta Rabari is a popular Gujarati folk artist known as 'Kutchi Koel'. She released the over 7-minute-long bhajan 'Shree Ram Ghar Aaye' on January 1 this year. The song by the 27-year-old singer has amassed over 6 lakh YouTube views so far.

  • Rabari marked her singing debut in 2017 with the hit track 'Rona Ser Ma'. It became the first Gujarati song to cross 500 million YouTube views.

  • In October 2022, Rabari gave her maiden performance at Mumbai's biggest Navaratri festival 'Chogada Re Navaratri Utsav'.

  • Hailing from Kutch district, Rabari announced the 500 million YouTube milestone for 'Rona Ser Ma' in a Facebook post last year. She thanked fans and her team for achieving the feat.

  • Rabari has emerged as a leading figure in Gujarati folk music through popular tracks like 'Madhai Rang Rupmati' and 'Mari Koi Gayu'. She is loved for preserving the rich musical traditions of her native Kutch.

  • PM Modi's praise highlights Rabari's growing national popularity beyond Gujarat. As a young singer promoting regional art forms, she represents the diversity of India's cultural landscape.

  • Rabari's recent Ayodhya-focused devotional song underscores her widening repertoire beyond folk tunes. Her soulful singing and distinctive folk style continue delighting audiences across genres.

  • The talented vocalist's meteoric rise underscores the resurgence of young folk talent driven by digital platforms. As Rabari carries her music forward, bigger milestones likely await the 'Kutchi Koel'.
