Yati Narsinghanand made the controversial statement during a public gathering, where he is seen addressing the crowd and discussing the symbolic burning of effigies during Dussehra. In the video, he expressed his views about historical figures, saying, "We burn Meghnad every year. A person of character like Meghnad was never born on this earth. We burn Kumbhakarna every year, a scientist-warrior like Kumbhakarna was never born on this earth, and after Kumbhakarna, such a person of character. And what was his fault?"
He then escalated his speech by comparing Ravana, who is traditionally burned in effigy for kidnapping Lord Rama's wife Sita, to more modern-day figures. "Ravana committed a small crime, and today, after millions of years, we still burn Ravana. Now, there are criminals in front of whom Ravana has no existence," he claimed.
