New Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events reminiscent of the film 'Special 26,' a fake Enforcement Directorate (ED) team was exposed in Mathura on Friday. Posing as ED officials, the group attempted to raid the residence of a local businessman, only to be thwarted by the victim’s alertness and the ensuing commotion.

How did it happen?

On Friday morning, a group of four individuals, including three men and a woman, arrived at the residence of Ashwini Agarwal in Radha Orchid Colony, located near the Govind Nagar police station area. Claiming to be ED officials, they presented a search warrant and began their operation. The team’s pretense included posing as two officers and a police constable.

The fake team’s plan quickly unraveled when Agarwal, a bullion trader, became suspicious of their authenticity. During their interaction, Agarwal noticed inconsistencies and began to question their legitimacy. Realizing something was amiss, Agarwal raised an alarm, calling for assistance from the Mayor of Mathura Municipal Corporation.

Fake team flees the scene

The disturbance caused by Agarwal’s cries attracted the attention of the local community. As the noise and crowd grew, the fraudulent ED team fled the scene. The entire episode was captured on CCTV, providing crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Police response and investigation

Upon learning of the incident, local police arrived promptly at the scene. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) interviewed Agarwal and began an investigation into the matter. The police are now utilizing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspects involved.
