A masked man made off with Rs 12 lakh in cash from a wine shop in Telangana's Nalgonda district. The police have registered a case and are actively pursuing the suspect.

Telangana: In a significant burglary incident, a liquor store in Gurrampodu, Nalgonda district, was looted, with Rs. 12 lakhs stolen from the cash box in the early hours of Sunday. The store, which had collected the money over Friday and Saturday, fell victim to the crime during the late hours of Saturday night, police officials reported.

According to authorities, the burglary occurred around midnight on Saturday when an unidentified individual managed to gain entry into the store by breaking the roof tiles. The store’s CCTV footage captured the suspect calmly counting the stolen cash, which was the store's weekend earnings.

Discovery of crime

The shocking theft came to light when the liquor store’s managers opened the shop on Sunday morning. Upon realizing the cash had been stolen, they immediately notified the authorities. The footage, which showed only one person conducting the heist, is now under detailed review as part of the investigation.

Police investigation underway

Sub-Inspector Narayana Reddy, who is leading the investigation, arrived at the scene with his team shortly after the incident was reported. The police are currently working to identify the suspect using the CCTV footage and other forensic evidence from the scene. "We are confident we will apprehend the individual soon," said Reddy, ensuring that the investigation is progressing swiftly.

This high-profile theft has caused unrest in the local area, and authorities have urged other shop owners to tighten their security measures in the wake of the incident.
