The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-UG will take place on May 4, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM. This exam serves as a crucial gateway for aspiring medical students across India, with over 1,08,000 seats available for MBBS courses in both government and private institutions.
Starting from February 7, candidates can register for the NEET-UG exam through the official website, with the application window closing on March 7. This year, the NTA has reverted to a traditional pen-and-paper format, following concerns over irregularities in previous online examinations. The decision was made after consultations between the education and health ministries, aiming to enhance transparency and integrity in the examination process.
In light of past controversies, including allegations of paper leaks, a high-level committee has proposed significant reforms for the NTA. Recommendations include implementing a DIGI-EXAM system to prevent impersonation and establishing secure testing centers across districts. These measures aim to ensure that the NEET-UG exam is conducted fairly and efficiently.
Apart from MBBS admissions, NEET-UG also facilitates entry into various other undergraduate courses such as Dentistry, Ayurveda, Unani, and Siddha. With over 24 lakh aspirants expected to participate this year, NEET-UG remains the largest entrance exam in India.
As preparations ramp up for this significant examination, candidates are encouraged to stay informed about updates and ensure they complete their registrations before the deadline. The NTA's commitment to conducting a transparent examination process is a positive step toward restoring faith in medical admissions.
